Lauren & Peter {an engagement session}

In 1903, James Hay Jr. penned one of my favorite poems -- in his exquisite language painting a picture of the beauty of the grounds of the University of Virginia with reverence only a graduate could understand.  In an excerpt from his piece, "The Honor Men," Hay wrote:

if you live a long time and, keeping the faith in all these things hour by hour, still see that the sun gilds your path with real gold and that the moon floats in dream silver;
then. . . remembering the purple shadows of the lawn, the majesty of the colonnades, and the dream of your youth, you may say in reverence and thankfulness:
“i have worn the honors of honor, i graduated from Virginia.”

This weekend I had the pleasure of capturing such majesty on film.  However, it was not only the "purple shadows of the lawn" working their magic before me, but also the beauty and authenticity of true love.  A romance sparked and grown on these lovely grounds, Lauren and Peter's engagement session held a deeply special place in my heart.
Congratulations, Lauren and Peter!  May this season be only the beginning of a lifetime of beauty {created together} that surpasses even that of the place in which you fell in love.
Enjoy!

The Lorenz Family

It's been a busy little month on this side of the lens!  However, I was privileged to meet this wonderful family at the end of June and to capture some generational images.  They were such a joy to work with {and just REALLY neat people}.  I truly enjoyed hearing about their lives and travels ~ and, more importantly, seeing their love for one another.  Some of these photos just melt my heart.

Enjoy!
