Happy Birthday, Zachary!

I had a fun time celebrating this little guy's first birthday with him this week ... both at his party and in the studio.  Although unsure quite what to do with his adorable polka-dotted cake, I think we captured some fun images.  He certainly had a fun time smiling for the camera!

Happy 1st Birthday, Zachary!

Emily & Patrick {a love story}

At the beginning of 2013, I promised a free Christmas session this year.  However, after really searching my heart ... I decided to give that little "gift" to a wonderful family this summer instead.

Emily & Patrick have been dear friends of mine for a long time.  Seriously long!  Emily is probably my oldest, closest, and most cherished friend.  She knows most everything about me ... and I about her.  This March, her husband (who I have also known for 12+ years) was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer.  I have been writing another blog, God Healing Patrick, to chronicle Patrick's journey with (and God's victory over) cancer.  This special couple had not had professional photographs made since their wedding day, over 5 years ago.  So, I took the liberty of "donating" this promised session to them.

It was so magical just to watch them unwind together and enjoy each other's company ... then to come home and see what my camera captured!

Newborn Baby Lilah

Look who's here ...

Baby Lilah ... whose lovely mother I photographed back in May has made her big debut!  At just eleven days old, I got to meet her sweet face.  She was a champion model ... waking up once to nurse ... and otherwise sleeping through each and every pose!  And, her mommy says she even slept more soundly the night after our Newborn Session.  She's a natural.

Enjoy a sneak peak of her priceless session.
She's been making me melt all through my editing!

Special Delivery

Special Delivery!

The little Robbins nesting in our tree hatched yesterday ... and I had a blast capturing their morning feeding.  Thanks Mama-Robbin for not minding my picture-taking!

... what an incredible "newborn" session this was ...

Newborn Baby Kenzie

One of the most challenging aspects of photographing newborns is that I, the photographer, must pace the session entirely around the little one.  The poses, props, and length of the session are completely different each time.  I have the pleasure of encountering such sweetness when I work; however, most newbies require ample amounts of soothing to settle into a deep, comfy sleep.

Not Miss Kenzie!

Little Kenzie was an absolute dream to capture.  Already 13 days old, (the upper end of the 'newborn photography' window) I was amazed when she slept almost literally the entire time I photographed her session.  We used this slumber to our full advantage to capture the magic of her tiny features and expressions.

Enjoy a sneak peek from newborn Kenzie's session.
